ProvPlan functions as a data intermediary - helping policymakers and residents access public information that can be used to drive community improvement.
Providence Neighborhood Profiles
The original Neighborhood Profiles pages have been ProvPlan’s primary vehicle for providing data on Providence neighborhoods since 2001. There is a page for each neighborhood that provides a snapshot of data, maps, background, and local links. There are also citywide pages that compare neighborhoods with one another and to the City as a whole.
If you don’t find something on the neighborhood page, check the citywide page specific to the issue of interest. There is an incredible amount of detail in the “Summary Tables” section.
We are currently in the process of completely redeveloping our profiles to encompass the entire state of Rhode Island.
When to Use
Until the new Community Profiles site is built, the Neighborhood Profiles is still our primary outlet for 1990-2000 Census, neighborhood background, and historical administrative data snapshots around health, education, public safety, and property.
For current data on health and education check out the RI DataHUB. Detailed education data is available through InfoWorks LIVE!.
